One crazy weekend!

WOW! That pretty much sums up the Friday thru Monday Holiday. It was a long weekend, literally. It actually started out Thursday when Elisabeth and I went out to Shady Grove to see Billy Joe Shaver. Then Friday we met up with Clark and Shannon and hitched a ride up near Muleshoe Bend to do some wake boarding.

Elisabeth is still needing so coaxing to get onto a wakeboard, she decided to hang back and look cute on the boat. The ride up was great, a nice relaxing sunny and beautiful day. We weren't pressed for time, so we took it at our own pace. After stopping a few times to check the prop, we broke out boards.

Clark was the first up, however I didn't manage to get pics, sorry Clark. After that I took the rope. It had been two weeks since my last time out. I had just got over being sore, now it was time for more punishment. I came out to crash, I can stand up on the board, that isn't an issue, landing jumps and doing all that is. So instead of playing let's see how long I can stay up till I fall, I decided to go for the gusto.

And fall I did, several times. Had some really good ones, no ear popping falls though, that one kinda hurt 2 days later. But I fell for quite well. I attempted a 180 with absolutely no success. But the fall was quite spectacular.

Elisabeth was quite the shutter bug, hey it's the second time in 8yrs that I have attempted wake boarding, she's proud, love ya sweetie.

She just caught me going up, what you all don't see is the huge splash down that came after that launch.

After one last back breaker fall I decided it was time for a rest. Shannon was up after I. Unfortunately the water was getting bad and the Lakeway Diva was not happy...just playin, the water WAS crappy. Not only was every griswald family christmas out and about on the water by now but wind had started to pick up. The sun was moving and the temps were going down, so thanks to Byron Weber I know how wind works.

The water wasn't so bad that Shannon didn't manage to get off some big air. But "big air" is relative to my attemps as well as this being only the first time Elisabeth and I had seen Shannon ride. I was able to get good shots in. We didn't have much ballast so the wake was fairly low.

It is pretty sick how much money some people have to blow on a house. This thing looks like a Home Depot project going in. The secret about Lake Travis is out, and it's only a matter of time until every shore line is dotted with McMansions and green roofed boat docks. So we gotta enjoy it while we can.

Elisabeth thinking very hard about trying out this whole wakeboarding thing :)

This was pretty cool, Shannon got on her surfboard and literally surfed behind the boat. She was so close we could talk to her. Pretty neat.

Well, Shannon was done, Clark didn't really want to ride, so I went for more punishment. By now we were back in the main channel near Bar-K, the water was rough and the boats were plenty. This was "Just stay alive water".

I just tried to stay up, it was good practice for that. I rode in the wash most of the way. It was super chop city and then some.

I think Elisabeth caught my FIRST landing, wahoo. After a while I decided to liven things up and start trying to eat the water again. I was trying really hard, yet when I launched off the wake, I actually landed funny how those things work out like that. I managed to land 3-4 times I think.

I was done after this. My lower back was talking to me Sunday. It was a great workout and will do it again soon. We headed back to Drapers, met up with some of the Draper's crew and hung out. To Clark and Shannon, thanks for a great time.

Saturday came around and it was time to start packing up for the Kong Island Campout '05. Nothing like taking an armadad of boats loaded with gear and making landfall on someone else's land :) It was great. It took about 6 trips or more to get everything setup. But we managed. It was an ABSOLUTE blast. We had a great time, swimming, laughing, etc. Gage donned his new Billy Bob Buck-teeth I picked up for him. They are kinda heavy still so he wasn't diggin' em too much.

The ever so macho papa smurf was playing with Gage, he was a pretty happy camper, wasn't too sure why people kept staring at him though when he had his new pacifier in his mouth. Nelson tried to get him to hang out to it, but it went to the dirt. However, grandma cleaned it up sparking clean with a dash of busch light :)

Blue and the Gun Mutt playing around, while Bob feeds em both peanuts. Blue and Gunny had such a great time. They played pretty much non-stop, Gunny was SO tired the next day, even into Monday he was worn out from all the excitement.

Sunday morning Elisabeth and I hopped aboard the pontoon boat and were shuttled off to the car across the lake so we could make 11 o'clock mass. It's kinda neat when you can be camping out on the lake and still make it to church. Later that day after church we headed back down the Draper's. Ann was in another world. She literally crawled out of Lake Travis, a true Lakerat. later that day we took the pontoon boat to Cow Creek. In the evening we headed to Amber and Keith's to watch the Carlos 'n Charlie's show.

Monday was a lazy day, we slept in until around 11ish. Then ate some delicious brisket and then stopped to with the Moxley's. EP was enjoying her new inflatable water park. Equipped with water spraying palm tree. Later that day we headed to Shade's for some lunch.

EP is here shown having her first taste of the wonderful thing called...Grease. She had her first Shade's fry.

The thing about photography is you have to know how to use the correct setting on the camera. Most of the time the auto program setting gets it right, but this shot was taken on manual, tweak the AP and Speed and you actually get a good pic. Okay, enough camera nerd-speak.

LOL, and this is what happens when you auto level an already bad pic to begin with. The large pics are not leveled.

This years fireworks show was great, best one yet I think. It lasted for quite a long time. Getting back home was however the most stressful event ever. Had it not been a school night, I would have said wait till all the boats split. But we all had to go to work, so we road the ocean back. Thanks to Joe for piloting the ship on the ride back.
